Homes left without power in Rainham

by Jenni Horn

Electricity sullpies have been restored after a power cut which affected more than 2,000 EDF customers in Rainham.

Supplies were interrupted to 2,308 residents in the Maidstone Road area at 11.55am today (January 12) because of a fault on the electricity distribution network.

Engineers managed to restore power to 1,035 customers within the first minute and the majority of supplies were reconnected by 12.15pm.

The remaining few homes were reconnected just after 12.20pm but 20 minutes later several thousand homes were without power again because of another fault.

Power to all customers was restored by just after 3pm.

A spokesman for EDF Energy Networks said: “We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
