Medway's only zoo is looking to come to the aid of endangered British animals in its new expansion, which it is trying to raise money for.
Owner Andy Cowell wants to set up a new area in the zoo which will cater for British animals such as red squirrels and Scottish wildcats, both of which are endangered.
The 5-acre zoo at the Fenn Bell Inn in St Mary Hoo, is already home lemurs, parrots, pigs, racoon dogs, owls and many more.
"Most people haven't seen red squirrels or Scottish wildcats." Said Andy
"As a small zoo, we should focus on animals that are endangered."
Mr Cowell hopes to raise £15,000 which will go towards new enclosures, walkways and a disabled toilet.
He hopes that the expansion will allow for visits from schools which will encourage children to learn more about our native British species.
He also hopes to work with other zoos and enter his animals into breeding programmes which will in turn help the natural population.
"People just don't see them any more, and now they are endangered animals, it is important that we work on those breeding programmes."
Aside from an online fundraiser on JustGiving, Andy is hoping to hold a fundraising event over Easter.
If you would like to donate, visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/andrew-cowell. Everyone who donates will be entered into a prize draw which will be drawn at the end of this month, and the winners will receive dinner for two and a private tour of the zoo.
