Trivelles Rochester Hotel in Station Road, Strood evacuated after kitchen blaze

A hotel was evacuated after a kitchen blaze.

Two fire engines were called to Trivelles in Station Road, Strood yesterday evening (March 23).

Firefighters were called shortly before 6.30pm and the occupants and staff were cleared out while they were in attendance.

A spokesperson for the hotel said the cause was due to a frying pan that caught alight on the hob but was put out quickly.

No injuries were reported and firefighters left shortly after 7pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “It’s important to take care extra care in the kitchen and to keep cooking areas clean and clear of anything which could catch alight.

“Remember not to leave cooking unattended, and make sure you switch it off if you have to leave the room.”
