As part of National Apprenticeship Week a young woman has been speaking to kmfm about how taking on an apprenticeship landed her a job at a top media firm.
Molly Exley-Kidd says going to university isn't the only way to start your career and be successful.
Molly went to Rochester Grammar School to study her A-Levels before deciding she wanted to pursue an apprenticeship instead of going on to university.
The 19 year old who lives in Rochester High Street took up an apprenticeship with London media agency Wavemaker as a digital engagement executive.
It is said to be the second-largest media agency in the world.
"I produce social content for different clients," she said.
"We will come up with the ideas for some really exciting content which could be working with an illustrator or filming content at an event.
"I had four days a week to work and one day a week to study, and I got the opportunity to do loads of additional training to work with lots of different teams on lots of different campaigns."
At the end of her time as an apprentice, she was given a full-time job at the company.
Whilst studying her A-Levels, Miss Exley-Kidd decided to look into different options despite the fact her parents wanted her to go to university.
"I always imagined that I would go to university, I think I always thought that was the only way you could be successful.
"But when I started looking into it and researching my different options, I realised that there are so many different programmes out there and there are so many cool things that you can do.
"I did a lot of research, I saw what was out there and I consulted with my parents, bickered with them a little bit but now I think they are confident that I made the right decision.
"It was a really amazing experience and I am really pleased that I did it.
"I still feel like I am learning something new every day even now that I am finished."
The East Kent Apprenticeship awards are taking place today at The Yarrow Hotel in Broadstairs.
