Remembrance Day in Medway: how the Towns paid tribute

Hundreds gathered at memorials across Medway to remember those who lost their lives for the country.

Armistice Day events on Thursday November 11 included a Remembrance Service at Rochester Cathedral, while wreaths were laid at Victoria Gardens, in Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham.

Remembrance Sunday on November 14 brought people together at Great Lines park in Gillingham, before a parade along the High Street, ending with a service at St Mark's Church at 10.45am.

In Chatham a parade down Chatham High Street preceded a service led by Rev Martyn Saunders of St Johns Church, marking 100 years since the war memorial was unveiled at Victoria Gardens, while music was provided by the Salvation Army.

Wreaths were also laid at the war memorial at Victoria Gardens, while in Rochester there was a parade before a service at Rochester Cathedral and War Memorial.

St Margaret’s Church in Rainham held an act of Rainham’s War Memorial, with hymns led by the Kent Police Band.
