Hundreds of families are expected to dive into The Big Splash at swimming pools across the Towns this weekend.
The community swimming event showcases aquatics and water-based activities with free family friendly pool parties and competitions at Medway Park, Strood Sports Centre, Hoo Sports Centre and Splashes in Rainham.
There will be large pool inflatables, raft games and a family gala with races and medals at various times across all of the centres on Saturday and Sunday.
Kids can also try their hand at aqua zorbing, diving, water polo, scuba diving and synchronised swimming.
This year’s team swimming challenge will be held at Strood Sports Centre today from noon until 4pm.
The knock-out competition will see teams of four to six people battle it out in events such as water polo, water volleyball, waboba, a giant inflatable course and a treasure hunt.
New to the Big Splash this year is the aquathlon event which has been organised with Medway Tri. Competitors will take part in a separate run and swim with distances determined by age group and confidence.
The Aquathlon is at Medway Park on Saturday between 1.30-4.30pm.
The Medway Big Swim Challenge will be held at Strood Sports Centre on Sunday, between 9am-3pm. Competitors will have 40 minutes to complete as many lengths as they can while raising money for the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust.
