A housebuilder has gained consent to construct hundreds of new homes.
Redrow bought the former Wooley Orchard site in Rainham from Peel Investments in August last year with outline planning consent already granted.
It has now secured full planning permission from Medway Coucil for the development off Lower Rainham Road, to be named Hamlet Park.
As part of the planning consent, Redrow must pay £2m in mitigation measures, largely to improve sustainable transport in Rainham and to support local schools.
Of the 200 homes planned for the 23-acre site, 150 will be available for private sale, with 50 allocated as affordable homes, through shared ownership or rent.
The homes will range in size from two- to five-bedrooms.
The scheme includes 3.5 acres of green space, including a pond, a wildflower meadow and a formal square.
All the homes will have EV charging points and will be heated via air source heat pumps.
The company's planning director, David Banfield, said: "We are delighted that planning consent being granted.
"Hamlet Park is located in a very desirable location, on the edge of the vibrant town of Rainham, surrounded by stunning countryside.
"Hamlet Park will be perfect for commuters, with Rainham Station just a 15-minute walk away with direct trains to St Pancras and Victoria."
