Leaflets are being delivered to homes in Chatham as police continue investigations into a rape in an alleyway.
A man is being hunted by police after a woman was raped on her way home from a night out in the early hours of Sunday, July 28.
The victim, in her 30s, was attacked after leaving Coyotes nightclub between 2am and 3am.
The woman left the New Road Avenue nightclub before walking along Railway Street and Rochester Street to visit a friend.
As she passed Chatham station, she was approached by a man, described as being east European, who tried to befriend her.
Police said he was in his 30s, around 5ft 5in, of “proportionate” build and had a shaven head.
He was soon joined by a second man, also said to be of east European appearance. The second man was skinny, with dark hair and wearing dark clothes and a baseball cap.
In Rochester Street, the woman tried to rouse her friend without success.
She went behind Rochester Street via an alley off Corkwell Street but the first man who tried to befriend her ran towards her. He is said to have subjected her to the assault before fleeing.
DI Gavin Moss described it as an “horrific ordeal” for the woman.
Police released an image of the man they are hunting on Tuesday but so far no arrests have been made.
Over the last few days, officers have been delivering leaflets appealing for witnesses, in the hope of jogging someone’s memory.
The leaflets have gone to homes between the nightclub and where the rape happened.
