When Becky Dolby went to watch a wrestling competition with her friends she did not expect to be the one in the ring, or that she would end up wearing a very special one.
The 33-year-old of Lancelot Close, Strood, went to watch International Pro Wrestling UK at the Casino Rooms in Rochester with her boyfriend Paul Mashiter, 32, and their friends.
She was called into the ring after the match as a thank-you for ferrying her 13-year-old son Joshua to each event, but the Master of Ceremonies, Chris Hatch, had a few tricks up his sleeve.
He said: “You bring your son along, who helps out an awful lot and it’s a lot of effort you go to take him to lots of places.
“We want to thank you and someone else has something to say as well.” He then turned Becky around to reveal Paul, down on one knee. The audience started chanting “Yes!” and Becky covered her face with her hands.

Becky, who works with adults with learning difficulties, said: “The MC was trying to distract me from what was going on behind Paul getting down on –one knee. It was a bit of a shock.
“We are quite big wrestling fans and we’ve got a big group of friends who go to wrestling events with us.”
Becky and Paul have been together for three years after they met through an online dating website.
Becky said Paul, who is a postman, must have been nervous during the proposal as there were a lot of people at the event.
“We’ve been to a number of the club’s events before,” she said. “But this was the biggest number of people that had ever been there. People were queuing around the corner.”
She added that the only person that wasn’t surprised was her mum Karen, as Paul had
asked her permission for Becky’s hand.
The couple, who have three children between them, are now planning on saving up for their big day and hope to get married in two years.
