A cyclist who suffered serious head, chest and arm injuries after being involved in an accident in Chatham is said to be recovering well in hospital.

The accident happened on Chatham Hill, near the Domino's Pizza outlet, when the cyclist, who is in his 50s, collided with a blue BMW car.

Emergency services, including Kent Air Ambulance, were called to the scene on Friday at 3.40pm and the cyclist, who comes from south London, was airlifted to King's College Hospital by the air ambulance last Friday at 3.40pm.

His condition was described as serious but stable, but now his injuries are deemed no longer life-threatening.

Police say they would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision involving the car and the bike, which was black and silver, to contact them.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to people who were in a Seat Leon car, which was parked nearby.

Anyone with information should call 01622 798538.
