KentOnline understands the Ministry of Justice is working with Public Health England to contain any possible spread.

An outbreak of the disease has not been declared and the prisoner is being treated within the jail in Fort Road.

Public Health England's role includes informing the public of health warnings where there would be outbreaks of a particular illness in public spaces such as schools or hospitals, but not typically prisons.

TB is a bacterial infection spread through tiny droplets from coughs or sneezes from an infected person.

It affects the lungs but can affect any part of the body which can be cured if treated with antibiotics.
