Invicta Dynamos’ player of the year Peter Vaisenen, is leaving the club to join an English Premier League outfit.

Canadian forward Vaisenen (pictured) has made a big impact since joining Invicta at the start of the season, scoring 50 goals and finishing the campaign as the only player to reach 100 points for the club.

But his performances have caught the eye of plenty of other coaches and Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish said: "Vas is leaving us to join an English Premier League club. I can’t tell you which one because they haven’t announced it at their end yet but they have offered him a good deal and we wish him all the best.

"Vas has been by far the easiest import I’ve ever worked with. He’s never moaned about anything and he’s just got on with his hockey. He’s been totally professional in everything he’s done."

Vaisanen was named player of the year at Dynamos’ presentation evening on Friday, when the club celebrated their seventh successive ENIHL South Division 1 title. Players’ player of the year was Andy Smith, coach’s player of the year went to Jack Tarczycki, clubman of the year was Mike Jones, forward of the year was Nicky Lewis and defenceman of the year went to Tim Smith.

The club staged a memorial game at the Silver Blades Ice Rink on Sunday for one of their greatest ever servants, Andy Martin, who died last year.

Parrish was one of many former Invicta favourites who took to the ice again to pay tribute to Martin and he said: "It was a fitting tribute to one of the great gentlemen of ice hockey. It was a great occasion, seeing so many old faces and the fans really enjoyed it as well."
