Invicta Dynamos have captured prolific forward Joe Johnston from fierce rivals Streatham Redskins.
The free-scoring 29-year-old is Dynamos' sixth new signing of the summer and Invicta head coach Kevin Parrish believes he could be one of the most influential.
"Having courted Joe for some time," Parrish said, "we are delighted to finally have him at the club and we anticipate that he will play a major role as we look for more honours this campaign.
"He is an excellent forward who will add another dimension to our attack. In previous seasons Joe has always been amongst the top scorers in the league and last term he added another 26 goals to his already impressive career tally despite an injury late in the campaign."
Johnston emerged through the junior ranks at Streatham and then played several seasons with the Guildford Flames before rejoinging the Redskins, and he admitted: "It has been a tough decision for me to join Invicta.
"As most people know I am Streatham through and through and have a great loyalty to the Redskins. I never anticipated leaving Streatham so this is a massive move for me, particularly given the rivalry between the two teams.
"But I spoke to Kevin and he offered me a great opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. I asked him what he expected from me and he just said that he wanted me to play exactly how I have against the Dynamos for the past six years: be a constant threat , which was a huge compliment, and now I can’t wait to get cracking in preparation for the forthcoming season."
Parrish has been a busy man over the past few days. Apart from Johnston, he has signed three more players for his 2009/10 squad: Grant Baxter has agreed to stay on for his seventh season at the club, David Oliver has joined from Romford Raiders while fellow defenceman Mike Jones has returned home from a spell with Turkish Super League side Ankara to augment Parrish's defensive options.
