Invicta Dynamos lost 6-3 at home to Cardiff NIHL Devils on Sunday.
It was the Mos’ first defeat of the season in NIHL South Division 1, after winning their opening two league matches.
The Devils struck first when Jamie Newton’s shot deflected off Tom Avery’s skate but the hosts levelled through through Peter Vaisanen, pictured.
The Devils went 2-1 ahead through Sean Scarbrough – the first of his three efforts on the night – and seconds before the end of the first period, the visitors took a 3-1 lead through Steve Fisher.
With six minutes gone of the second period, Fisher grabbed another and a fifth came when Scarbrough scored again.
Things got worse for the Mos when Bradley Watchorn picked up a match penalty for seeking retribution on Robert Sedlak, following the Cardiff man’s check on Jack Tarczcyki.
The Dynamos made a better start to the third period when Andy Smith flicked a rebound over the Cardiff netminder and moments later, Tim Smith scored with a fine shot.
But hopes of a fightback ended when Cardiff called a time-out and Scarbrough completed his hat-trick five minutes from time.
