Invicta Dynamos captain Andy Smith is poised to reach another landmark in his long career with the club this weekend.
The Dynamos’ all-time highest scorer (pictured) is now just three points short of the 700-mark, with 364 goals and 333 assists, following his two hat-tricks last weekend which helped Invicta to a morale-boosting double success.
Smith, who joined Invicta in 2004, bagged a treble in the 8-4 ENIHL Southern Cup win over the Wightlink Raiders on Saturday and then repeated the feat 24 hours later in the 6-3 league victory at Oxford City Stars.
Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish said: "Andy was superb last weekend and showed again that we are lucky to have him.
"It’s not just the fact that he is nearly up to the 700 points mark but’s it’s his points-to-game ratio which marks him out as a special talent. He has done it in just 259 games which is unbelievable."
Invicta travel to the Isle of Wight for a league game on Saturday and Parrish admitted: "It’s always a tough game on the island.
"It’s a tight rink and we haven’t had much joy there in the last few seasons, so it would be nice if we could come home with two points this time."
The following day Invicta are at home to the Chelmsford Chieftains in the Southern Cup (5.15pm), and Parrish confirmed that new signing Alastair Band will be in the Invicta squad for the first time this weekend.
