Invicta Dynamos slipped to only their second home defeat of the season after losing 5-2 to against Romford Raiders on Sunday night.
The Mos sit second in ENIHL Division 1 South, behind new champions Wightlink Raiders, but both Romford and Chelmsford Chieftains can leapfrog them by winning their games in hand, leaving Invicta in fourth.
Wightlink secured the league title on Saturday leaving Invicta to fight for play-off positioning.
Three Romford goals in the final period at the Silver Blades Ice Rink proved decisive.
Dynamos started the game well enough, scoring the opener during a 5-on-3 power play, with Michael Timms (pictured) scoring after being set up by Tim Smith.
When the Raiders had their two men back they levelled up the scores and soon went 2-1 ahead with a slapshot from Billy Phillips.
With 20 minutes gone it was all-square when Andy Smith scored from close range.
The Mos started the final session without Karl Lennon, who had been penalised for a check from behind at the end of the previous period.
Romford made the powerplay count and took the lead once more after Andrew Dickson was beaten.
Chris Borges was called for slashing and once more the visitors made the extra man count, extending the lead to 4-2.
The match was finished off as a contest when Romford added their fifth with a shot by Raiders’ player/coach Danny Marshall from the back of the left circle.
