Invicta Dynamos’ charge towards the ENIHL Division 1 South title has received a setback with the loss of hot-shot forward Nolan Boike.
The 25-year-old American, pictured, has averaged two goals a game since joining the Dynamos in November but is likely to be out for two or three weeks after tearing a hamstring in last Saturday’s 5-2 victory at Oxford Stars.
It means he is doubtful for the big clash with third-placed Cardiff Devils on February 27.
Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish said: "It’s a setback losing him because he has been scoring goals for us right, left and centre after taking a couple of weeks to settle.
"But I haven’t given up hope that he will be fit for the trip to Cardiff which is a massive game."
Dynamos visit Milton Keynes Thunder on Saturday and are at home to the Haringey Greyhounds on Sunday.
Invicta have beaten the Thunder and the Greyhounds three times each this season but Cardiff Devils' draw against struggling Streatham Redskins last week showed that there is no room for complacency.
Parrish said: "I have said before that Streatham, Milton Keynes and Haringey are three teams who are capable of giving you a bloody nose if you don’t watch out."
