Two young entrepreneurs have started their own salon after deciding they wanted to be their own boss.
Best friends Paige Thompson and Emily Parker opened their first premises Mane House of Hair in Strood last Tuesday.
The hairdressers used to be based in a salon on the Davis Estate, in Chatham, but left after deciding they wanted to venture out on their own.
Emily, 26, said: "It is the best decision we have ever made. It was waiting for the right time, it was all about the timing.
"Although it was a risk, it is something we have always wanted to do. It's strange seeing out clients here - so many have come with us."
Paige, 22, added: "It has been really overwhelming. We thought if we do not do it now then when are we going to.
"It was a real eye opener when we realised how loyal all of our clients are to us. They have come in and been really supportive.
"It was mad starting this while the whole world is crumbling but I think people see something new and want to try it.
"When we do get new clients it is like a pat on the back and shows us that what we're doing is working."
The pair have worked together for five years and had both looked at a unit in Box City, Sunderland Quay, on the Medway City Estate, separately before deciding to go in on a place together.
Emily said: "We thought we would have to start over again but 99% of our clients have come with us. It has been really overwhelming.
"I feel like I am not at work. I am catching up with friends. It is more than a job."
Paige added: "Although it was a risk, it does not feel like it or a big jump now we are open.
"This is it and we have got it.
"This will be our story that at 22 and 26 we opened our own salon. It will be what we look back at."
The salon is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 9pm and on Saturday until 3pm.
