Chatham Town chairman Jeff Talbot admits the club’s recent form has been frustrating but is confident their fortunes will turn around.

Last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at AFC Sudbury was Town’s fifth straight away defeat and their seventh loss in eight games, after they began the Ryman League, Division 1 North season with 16 points from their opening seven games.

Mr Talbot (pictured) said: "It’s been a frustrating run, particularly because we got off to such a good start and were galloping away. We have looked a match for every team this season with the possible exception of a good Grays team.

"Saturday summed up the past month. We looked like the home side and had all the possession but that leaves you open to a sucker punch and that’s what happened.

"We have played a number of games like that recently. We just don’t seem able to create the crucial final ball to put away and if you don’t score goals, then you won’t win matches."

The Chats welcome Leiston tomorrow (Saturday) and Mr Talbot said they might look to add to last week’s arrival of striker Alwayne Jones from Tonbridge Angels.
