Barnsley 1 - 0 Gillingham
RONNIE JEPSON believed his team were worthy of a point from Tuesday’s clash at Oakwell.
But the Gills manager accepted improvements needed to be made up-front as the side failed to find the net for the second game running in the 1-0 defeat.
He said: "I thought we might have got something out of it at the end. The second-half performance was a lot better – I just though we lacked a little bit of endevour in the final third.
"There were a lot of things dropping in the box for us but we weren’t on the move enough at times.
"In terms of commitment, I couldn’t fault the players, I just thought we lacked quality. I know with the injury situation, we’re lacking width and that was there for everybody to see."
Jepson was delighted to see the return of Darren Byfield, who has missed the last six games through injury.
He said: "You’ve got to give Darren credit. He’s only been back running for three or four days and hasn’t kicked a ball for a while. Obviously, he was tiring but he’s come out and given his all."
