A dad is pleading for the return of his missing cat who has been affectionately dubbed Tesco's “security guard” after often greeting customers outside.
Tony Pickard’s 11-year-old pet Jagěr failed to return to her Halling home on Thursday, December 12 – something which he says she would “never do”.
Tony, who lives near the new Tesco Express at St Andrew’s Park, says Jagěr has “basically become the shop’s security guard” and is “very well-known in the area”.
“The site was her playground when it was being built, and once it was built she waited outside waiting for everyone to talk to her and stroke her,” he added.
She’s even mentioned on the supermarket’s Google review page.
“I put a post up on Facebook as soon as she went missing asking people to keep an eye out for her and I had four different people contact me – two of which knocked on my door.”
He says he was told a person working at a nearby building site had been feeding her for a couple of weeks.
He is pleading for the cat, which his family rescued from Battersea in 2016, to be returned to him.
Tony added: “She’s soft as anything and absolutely loves everyone.
“My kids are not overly happy. Normally my eldest son usually wakes up in the morning and spends time with the cat so he misses her quite a bit.
“Please bring her back. Just leave her next to Tesco and she’ll come back.”
