Kent singer Venbee has been nominated for her first Brit award.
The musician has been shortlisted for Song of the Year for her track Messy in Heaven with drum and bass producer Goddard.
Venbee, who is from Chatham, said she is “lost for words” following the news.
“I am so honoured and grateful to be nominated for a Brit award,” the singer said.
“This has been my dream since I was very little and I am so, so grateful that I get to live my dream in reality.
“I really cannot thank you all enough for your support and love. It truly means everything and more to me.
“Thank you to my team and amazing managers for always having my back and letting me express myself freely.
“To my brother Goddard, I love you so dearly and am so so grateful to call you my friend. I am so glad we get to celebrate this together.
“Huge love to everyone involved on this record. This has been life-changing.”
Venbee, whose real name is Erin, wrote the best-selling single in only 20 minutes after having a dream about Jesus partying in Chatham High Street.
She used the idea and created the platinum drum and bass track as a metaphor for her friend’s struggles with drugs.
The 23-year-old spoke to Numi on kmfm’s The Hit List in 2022 about releasing Messy in Heaven and revealed she didn’t think it would do well.
She added: “When I was dropping it I was so nervous to get it out because I did not how the public would react to it.
“I have never been that nervous to drop a song in my entire life.”
It has reached number three in the UK singles track and has been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify.
Venbee rose to fame following global success on TikTok where her videos reached more than 1.5 million views.
Messy in Heaven is up against 14 other songs including Miracle by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, Escapism by Raye featuring 070 Shake and Dance the Night by Dua Lipa.
The Brit Awards 2024 will be broadcasted live on ITV1 and ITVX from the 02 on Saturday, March 2.
