Cheers for the beers! A renowned lager has thrown its support behind Gillingham Ladies football team.

Hurlimann lager, brewed in Kent by Shepherd Neame, will support the club over the next two years with advertising, branded training T-shirts and match prizes.

The agreement follows similar announcements in the men’s game with the Kent Hurlimann Football League and Chatham Town FC. Brand manager Louise Weatherstone said: "Female football is taking off in a big way.

"This has been shown by the success of the recent Women’s World Cup and Super League. Hurlimann and Gillingham Ladies FC’s shared love of football makes for a great partnership."

Gillingham Ladies will be sharing a ground this season with Chatham Town.
