A housing provider is looking to build a block of flats for older people in a town centre.
mhs homes has requested permission from Medway Council to demolish flats on the corner of Corporation Street and Blue Boar Lane in Rochester.
Medway's biggest landlord wants to replace the existing structure with a part seven, part five-storey building containing 48 flats of one and two bedrooms.
mhs homes owns the current structure. It has appointed developers BPTW to deliver the scheme if approved.
The same company previously worked with mhs homes to develop 89 homes in Corporation Street.
Planning documents state 100% of the homes – which will be aimed at residents aged over 60 – will be affordable and there will be spaces for nine cars, 10 mobility scooters and 10 bikes.
Earlier this year, plans for a hotel in the road were approved.
If given the green light, the development could form plans to further develop the main road.
Medway Council's planning committee is due to consider the plan by Wednesday, July 22.
