Lanes closed on M2 after crash involving van and coach near Blue Bell Hill exit

A crash involving a van and a coach on a busy stretch of motorway caused long delays this morning.

Three lanes on the M2 coastbound before the Junction 3 exit for the A229 Blue Bell Hill were closed following the incident.

Queues stretched back to Junction 2 for the A228 in Strood.

The road was initially closed completely, but then one lane was opened to allow traffic to filter through.

A spokeswoman from the police said: “We were called at 9.46am to the M2 coastbound carriageway following reports of a collision involving three vehicles between junctions 2 and 3.

“SECAmb along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.

“One person reported minor injuries and has been treated by ambulance crews.”

“We assessed and treated two patients before taking them to Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical treatment,” an ambulance spokeswoman added.

The road reopened completely just before 1pm.
