Large rubbish fire in village

Firefighters are fighting a rubbish fire in a small village.

Crews from Medway, Gillingham and Sittingbourne are at White Hill Place, in White Hill Road, Bredhurst, after large rubbish-filled containers caught fire.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We got the call at 11.37am and four appliances have now been sent to the scene.

"The initial crews who arrived there asked for back up as they had difficulty getting water to the location.

"Firefighters are just covering the rubbish with water until it goes out."
