Motorists faced long delays after a crash near a hotel.

Traffic was moving slowly following the collision between a motorbike and a pedestrian near the Holiday Inn on the A229 Maidstone Road, Chatham, at 5.15pm.

Police officers and paramedics attended the scene as well as an air ambulance.

The road was closed while the incident was responded to, and it reopened shortly before 8pm.

A woman was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries.

There were long queues from the Lord Lees Roundabout to Shirley Avenue.

Blue Bell Hill was also congested near the turn off for the Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course.
