The A289 eastbound was shut, meaning drivers were unable to get off the Medway City Estate via the tunnel.

As well as this, a crash has also reportedly taken place inside the tunnel.

Traffic is building on the estate and there is congestion on roads around Wainscott and Strood.

Shortly after 6pm all lanes had reopened.
