Motorists are being urged to find alternative routes through Chatham after a HGV broke down blocking a main road through the town centre.

Police were called out at about 2pm today after the lorry broke down as it was turning into Slicketts Hill, from The Brook.

The vehicle has completely blocked the carriageway.

A patrol car was sent to the scene and officers have been managing the traffic trying to get along the road.
