The M2 has reopened between junctions 5 and 4 following a collision.

Traffic came to a standstill on the London-bound carriageway between the Sittingbourne/Maidstone turn-off and the exit for Gillingham.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance service were both at the scene.

It was the second major motorway to be shut within a matter of hours.

The M20 is also closed to London-bound traffic following what has been reported as a multi-vehicle collision.
