M2 slip road at Junction 2 for Strood and Rochester will stay closed for several more weeks

A key slip road off the M2 is likely to remain closed for several more weeks.

The London-bound exit slip road at J2 A228 Sundridge Hill (Strood/Rochester) has been closed since Friday, September 23.

If follows a collision resulting in damage to Medway Bridge.

A National Highways spokesman said: “The exit slip road remains closed for safety purposes until repair work to the bridge parapet and barrier is complete.

“Each section is made-to-measure, which can take a number of weeks to manufacture.

“Our workforce will carry out the repair work in due course and the slip road will be reopened as soon as this has been carried out.”

November 20 has been suggested as a possible date for re-opening.
