Cyclist taken to hospital after A2 crash near Salisbury Avenue, Rainham

A cyclist was taken to hospital after suffering from head injuries after being in collision with a motorcycle in Rainham this morning.

Paramedics and police were called out to the A2 near its junction with Salisbury Avenue, after the man in his 50s was injured.

The collision happened shortly before 6am and the cyclist was put onto a long board as a precaution and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening and the road was closed for some time while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.56am following a collision involving a motorcyclist and a pedal-cyclist on the A2 London Road at Rainham, near the junction with Salisbury Avenue.

"A section of the road was closed while the pedal-cyclist was treated at the scene but it was reopen by 8am. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries."
