There were traffic delays following an accident which saw a major route blocked and a person taken to hospital.

The A228 Rochester Road in Cuxton was closed both ways due a two-car collision.

Police say they were called to the area near the turning for Pilgrims Road at around 11.10am.

An ambulance crew also attended and took the injured party to hospital.

Officers remained at the scene while the damaged vehicles were removed.

The incident is causing congestion for traffic between Strood and Snodland.

Speaking around 2pm, a member of staff at the nearby White Hart pub said: "The traffic has been queuing for a while. It's been bad for at least an hour."

The road has been a hotspot for nasty crashes. Last September a cement mixer ploughed into eight cars.

The stretch re-opened around 3.15pm.
