A motorist accused of driving dangerously in the grounds of Rochester Castle was suffering a mental health episode at the time, a court heard.
The man was at the wheel of a white Ford Transit van when he drove into the grounds off Castle Hill, Rochester.
The incident happened on May 29 last year after the 36-year-old had been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder.
The Strood resident was arrested at the scene and kept repeating to officers he believed he was the King.
He was later charged with dangerous driving and appeared before magistrates in Medway on February 24. The court heard he was sectioned after his arrest.
The man did not enter a plea in relation to the charge and magistrates heard his legal team wanted the case to go back to the CPS for consideration to see if it was in the public's interest to proceed with the case.
His solicitor told the bench a mental health report would be sought to allow prosecutors to review the case and see if the case could be reconsidered.
Magistrates agreed to an adjournment and Chelsea Clarke, prosecuting, told the court the mental health report would be helpful to prosecutors so they could then make a decision on whether to drop the charges or proceed with the case.
The man was granted bail until the decision is made and his case is listed again at the same court on the afternoon of June 22.
