A man has been arrested after an assault next to a pub.

Police were called to Brompton Lane, Strood, next to the Weston Arms in Weston Road, after a man was hit.

The incident happened at 10.30pm yesterday.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

He was taken into custody and later released pending further inquiries.

The victim did not need medical treatment.
