A man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after he allegedly damaged cars parked in a quiet road in Rochester.
The emergency services were called out to Ship Lane, off the High Street at about 3.30am this morning after reports he was threatening to jump into the River Medway at Ship Pier.
It it understood the man, who has not been named and is homeless was brandishing an iron bar and allegedly damaged several cars and at least one window at The Ship pub nearby.
The police, the Medway Coastguard team and the Sheerness inshore Lifeboat were also called out to the scene and the man was later arrested by police.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Police attended Ship Lane, Rochester, at 3.35am on Tuesday 25 July 2017 following concerns for the welfare of a man on Ship Pier. The 30-year-old, of no fixed address, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to vehicles in Ship Lane. He is currently in police custody."
