A man has been arrested after two people were injured in a “frenzied attack” at a hospital.
Police were called to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham at around 11.35pm yesterday (February 13).
A witness said four or five police cars were called and the entrance to the emergency department was taped off.
She said: “We heard screaming and nurses came running through.
“There was a man attacking everyone. It was a frenzied attack and he seemed to punch a security guard.
“He then attacked a doctor
“They locked the door to the corridor and someone who I think was a matron told us to get back.
“They then put a screen up so we couldn’t see what was happening.”
Officers arrived at the scene where two men in their 40s and 50s were being treated for injuries.
A 22-year-old man from Thamesmead, London, was later arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances and officers are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact the appeal line.
