Man arrested after victim’s neck cut in serious assault in Rochester

A man has been arrested after a serious assault in Rochester.

Police say a man in his 40s needed hospital treatment for a cut to his neck, after being attacked at around 4.30pm on Thursday.

It is reported that a man went to a property in Wickham Street and assaulted the victim, who has since been discharged from hospital.

Detectives arrested a 36-year-old man from Chatham today, in connection with the assault.

The arrested man has been bailed until July 28 pending further inquiries.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Michael Nolan said: “An investigation is under way into the circumstances of the incident and inquiries have been completed by officers in the area.

“We are now urging witnesses or anybody with information to call our appeal line.”

Local residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam who were in the Wickham Street area at the time of the incident, are also asked to check for footage that may assist.
