Man arrested by armed police is bailed after incident in Shorts Way Rochester

A man who was arrested after armed police descended on a residential area has now been bailed by officers.

Armed police and paramedics were in Shorts Way in Rochester on Friday morning.

Witnesses said the emergency services first arrived at around midnight.

Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance between people who were known to each other.

The man, in his 40s, was arrested at around 5.40am on suspicion of a public order offence.

Officers seized a knife from the premises and the man was taken into custody.

However, police said this morning he had been bailed pending further inquiries until Friday, August 23.
