A man arrested after a woman was allegedly raped in a town centre has been released on bail.
Police launched an investigation following reports of the incident in Rochester High Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man in his 30s was arrested later the same day.
Speaking at the time, a police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report that a woman had been raped by a man in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, September 11 in Rochester High Street.
"Officers carried out some fast-track inquiries and arrested a man in his 30s later the same day."
He was remanded in custody but has now been bailed until October 6 pending further inquiries.
The incident is said to have happened just hours before the formal proclamation of the accession of King Charles III to the throne at a ceremony in the nearby Rochester Castle Gardens.
