A man arrested over hammer attacks on several banks and building societies in Chatham has been released on police bail.

The 38-year-old, who comes from the town, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of criminal damage.

He was released on Friday and is to return to Medway Police station again this Thursday.

Windows were smashed in the early morning attack on four banks and a neighbouring cafe in the High Street on January 6.
