Police have charged a man after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted in Gillingham.

Filmon Giher, 18, was charged with sexual assault after an incident in Parr Avenue in January.

It is alleged the girl was approached by a man who made sexual references to her before touching her inappropriately over her clothing.

The incident, which happened at about 7.40am on Monday, January 16, was seen by motorists who stopped to help the girl before the man ran away in the direction of Garfield Avenue.

It is alleged when the girl resisted the man, he grabbed her by the throat.

Giher, of Britton Street, Gillingham, appeared before magistrates in Medway on Thursday, and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court, on Thursday, March 23.

Giher did not enter a plea.
