Man charged with causing death of Met Police officer Jonathan Bull, from Chatham, in M11 crash

A man has been charged with causing the death of a police officer from Medway.

Jonathan Bull, 47, from Chatham, died in a crash on the M11 in Essex last year.

Unemployed Christopher Jones, 41, from Halfway Street in Sidcup, has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Met Police officer Mr Bull died at the scene of the smash involving three cars between junctions eight and nine of the motorway on March 20, 2015.

In a statement released at the time, his family said: "Jon leaves behind a loving wife, two brothers, two sons and two daughters, as well as his extended family members.

"He was a long-standing and well respected police officer with the Metropolitan Police.

"He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and his colleagues" - Bull family statement

"He served the London borough of Bromley in various roles, more recently as a Safer Neighbourhood Officer supporting the local community.

"He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and his colleagues.

"Jonathan grew up locally in the Bromley area and attended Highfield Primary School, going on to study at Langley Park School for Boys.

"He then had a number of jobs before joining the police service in May 2004.

"He was a well-respected police officer, who was held in high regard by his colleagues and took pride in serving his community."

Hall has been bailed to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday, March 14.
