An An elderly man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife.

Alan Thomas, 79, was remanded in custody at Medway Maistrates' Court today (Tuesday).

He will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.

The body of 77-year-old Winifred Thomas was found at a house in Deanwood Drive, Parkwood, Rainham on Sunday morning.

Thomas, of Deanwood Drive, was charged last night.
