A man has been charged with pepper-spraying police as they tried to arrest him at the roadside.
Tony Parr is said to have used Pava spray against the officers after his vehicle was stopped in Will Adams Way, Gillingham on Wednesday.
Police were initially called to the A2 Sovereign Boulevard at about 2.15pm after an unrelated car crashed into traffic lights just before the roundabout on the Chatham-bound carriageway.
While officers were at the scene they stopped another vehicle driving in Will Adams Way, at around 4.15pm.
The driver reportedly refused to do a breath test and was taken into custody.
Parr, 33, of Blackman Close, Hoo, has since been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, using a firearm to resist arrest, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without insurance.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court today and was remanded to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, June 2.
