Paul Campbell, 29, of Farley Close, Chatham, denies murdering granddad Steve Berry, at his home in Kinross Close

A man will stand trial in November accused of murdering a grandfather at his Chatham home.

Paul Campbell, 29, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court this morning after he was charged earlier this year with the murder of Steve Berry.

Mr Berry’s body was found on the floor of the kitchen at his flat in Kinross Close, Princes Park, on July 12 last year.

A previous hearing was told the 59-year-old, who suffered from poor health and walked with a stick, had been “subjected to a substantial assault”.

Campbell, of Farley Close, Chatham, was arrested and was remanded in custody after he appeared at magistrates’ court.

While in the dock, Campbell, pictured here, denied the allegation and was remanded in custody.
