A man was detained under the Mental Health Act this morning after officers were called to the M2 near Chatham.

The London bound exit slip road at junction three for the A229 Blue Bell Hill was partially blocked at around 5am.

A warning to motorists said this was due to a “police incident”.

A police spokesman said: “Shortly after 5am officers attended the M2 Junction 3 slip road due to concern for the welfare of a man.

“Ambulance staff also attended and the man was detained under the Mental Health Act.”
