A man who was found dead in a high street flat was stabbed in the chest.
Luke Sullivan died at a property in Rochester High Street on Thursday, November 21.
An inquest into the death of the 31-year-old opened today at Archbishop's Palace, Maidstone.
The court heard how Mr Sullivan had spent the evening with friends and returned to one of their homes.
An altercation is said to have taken place and Mr Sullivan suffered a stab wound to his chest.
An ambulance was called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem gave the cause of death as shock and haemorrhage, and stab wound.
Assistant coroner for Kent and Medway, Sonia Hayes, said a full inquest will take place at a later date when all reports into the incident have been returned.
A 42-year-old man was released without charge, while another, aged 37 and from Medway, has been bailed pending further inquiries until Friday, December 20.
Earlier this month, Mr Sullivan's family set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral.
