A man who was found "unresponsive" in a residential road in the early hours has died.
Officers and paramedics were seen arriving in Walderslade at around 5am yesterday where they discovered the 27-year-old.
He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead. His next-of-kin has been informed.
Officers are treating the death as unexplained and inquires are still ongoing.
They spent most of the day in Kingfisher Drive, and cordoned off half the road for several hours.
A man who lives within where the cordon was put in place, and was unable to leave his house, said: "My wife woke me up at about 5.45am and I saw there were ambulances and police cars literally right outside my front door.
"There were officers already at our house as they noticed we have CCTV."
He said they watched the footage and saw someone "staggering down the pavement with no top on" at around 3.20am.
The witness added: "He fell into my van and then disappeared onto the grass verge about 30 feet down the road.
"At about 4.20am he is laying on the floor and at 5.10am the first response team came down.
"When I looked through the window at 6.10am they were putting him in the back of the ambulance.
"It is just a shock, from seeing him staggering down the pavement and watching the CCTV he does not move at all."
The cordon was lifted yesterday afternoon.
