A man has been found dead near an Asda superstore.

Officers were called to Pier Road, Gillingham, at around 2.30am on Sunday when they made the discovery.

They were initially called over concerns for a man's welfare.

After arriving at the scene the body of a man was recovered outside the supermarket chain.

His next of kin has been informed.

A police spokesman added: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will now be prepared for the coroner."
